We aim to spread awareness about STEM education among people from all sections of society regardless of their age and background. Further, our goal is to bridge the gap between Art and STEM, where people, especially women artists, are exposed to STEM education through our training and the artwork they perform on our products. On the financial side, these women artists get paid multifold compared to their current wages, which helps improve their financial condition, and they are encouraged to pursue at least primary-level education. On the other hand, those using our product could directly-indirectly engage people in STEM education and its awareness. Hand-embroidery makes our products inclusive, where physically disabled people could also benefit from our product. Since we also aim to minimize carbon emissions (a more realistic and achievable goal), hand-embroidery, hand-painting, organic textiles, and other paraphernalia used in making our finished product will help us achieve this goal.
About Our Product
ASTEM
Exclusive STEM-based hand-embroidery products are one of a kind and are not available to shop even from big brands. It entails an array of items which include hand-embroidered t-shirts, brooches, laptop bags, purses and so on. We use mostly thread and paint in the embroidery work. Unlike conventional embroidery, we don't use an embroidery ring to work on ASTEM products. Depending on the size of the image, it could take weeks to work on a single item.

In Brief
We are a social venture run by the brother-sister duo who aim to spread awareness about Art and STEM education and empower women.

We come from a small village in the district of Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh. With a master's in Astrophysics from the University of Geneva, I (Shivom Gupta) am the first and only from my and nearby four villages to have studied abroad. Apart from my interest in exoplanet research, I want to utilize my skill for the betterment of society and people in need. My sister is also the first and only fashion designer who has showcased her creativity in numerous fashion shows in India. Having seen our mother's lifelong struggle, she wants to work for women's empowerment. Especially those women stuck in household chores and bereft of primary education due to their financial situation.
